Design Audit
This design brief is very important and brings up some important decisions. With wether to use the name Ublo or your real name is a hard decision but I would have to go with your name Rohan Nicol, reasons being it gives you a more personal and approachable feel letting your client see that they will be getting a real person, also your real name will be easier to distinguish than a short alias that could be mistaken as a company name and your name is simple and clean in it’s pronunciation as is your work in it’s clean sleek style but last and not least your are wanting to creat a new identity for this line so a new name just seems to fit, it will still be the same designer just a new part of you, a new name for a new work. When going about the logo I will research other simple, stylish logos, ones that have minimal decoration and also gather ideas from your own work so that I may attempt to portray you and your craftsmanship unique style but still keeping in mind that they are to be one colour or a logo that can also be presented in one colour and able to be embossed along with the ability to be made into a risen mould if you feel you would like. Your work shows a sleek industrial design but is really craftsmanship and I would really like to be able to show that in the logo so I will be portraying your smooth style the way your light gives off that feel. As for the scaffolding for your box I plan to show your clients how you work, a simple and easy design showing off your nature with your name and logo with a few examples of your work but the examples would not be over powering the simplicity of the design, they would just be there as a preview of your work. The way you present you finished designs gives me the idea of white background with your name and logo slightly off centre and a third of the way down the background and a few of you finished works and there process off the right hands side over lapping, zigzagged down the page but I still need to gather more ideas on the design and look at other works also three tan comfortable chairs with a coffee table similar shaped to your light.
Timetable
Week One may 5- This week I will devote to research on the logos and your design
booth which will allow me time to visit libraries and other useful
resources. Give me time to decide on what I will actual put my
time into developing.
Week Two may 12- I will be working on the logo and booth, drawing up sketches,
having roughs by the end of the week to give you an idea of where I am heading and whether you like it of if you have other ideas.
Week Three may 26- This week will be working with your feedback and coming up
with some actual logos and booth designs instead of just rough
sketches and then deciding on the final one you want.
Week Four may 2- Finishing touches will be made, any corrections will be finished
ready to hand over.
Budget
During the four weeks I will work 5 hours a day on this project for 5 days in the week for 4 weeks. The rate per hour is $60. So my time will come to a total of $6000
Other expenses during this process like printing and presentation for our meeting $500
Total -$6500

The colours are flat but work well together also giving it shade and light but also again simplistic.
Angelo Kotsis

The showershave this is not exactly what I had in mind but it is still sleek.
This is a group of designers called
Dinosaur Designs

There design reminds me of ublo’s style simple and thinking outside the box.
Toby Grime

CD Cover art. The colours and use of circles give this a real vibrant feel.
Duann Scott

This design is natural and aesthetically appealing and very simple in it’s design.
House Products
Mac Products show sleek and simple style.

Also they compare them self’s in a relaxed manner to other computer companies. Eg in the pic the 2 people show the nerdy business man as the PC and the young relaxed guy as the mac.
Optus Mobil Phones “Bring your mobile to life!”

There very care free nature with their advertising and the colours and sleek phones gives off a friendly feel to try and get across to the client.
Converse

I’m not really sure about it’s quote but it has set up a great image for it’s self being like the cool kid at school that every ones wants to be like, they give off that care free vibe.
Garnier “Take care”

“No one makes your hair stronger”
The way Garnier portrays it’s self is the whole “use this or your hairs will be S#@T” sort of vibe trying to show there is no one else but them and also connecting to the younger audience with the bright vibrant colours.
Fender

“Stop dreaming, start playing”
Fender has a sense of distinguish to it, being a classic it brings out special editions all the time making them seem as though you are luck if you have a fender you made the right choice.
Brother

“at your side”
The name says it all, the easy relaxed colour and the name saying we are family you can rely on us. And the rounded text just lets it flow.
